Janie Lynn Textiles
Preserving Stories and Inspiring Creativity ThroughTextile Arts
Janie Lynn Textiles provides unique healing art and arts in education services that combine textile art and story. My clients are a diverse group of schools, organizations and individuals. Here are some comments regarding my programs:
“Storytelling in all forms is crucial to the preservation of cultures. Ms. York's work provides such a beautiful, permanent venue on which her client's stories can come alive and be honored.”
Stephanie A. Carlson-Pruch Art Specialist Gomez Heritage School
“Janie’s willingness to talk openly about her own disability, reduced hearing, endeared her to our at ~ risk students who face disabilities of their own.”
Sandra S. Hanna Teacher, Uta Halee Girls Village
“Resistance and frustration melted into a sense of calm, followed by excitement over what they had accomplished. The inmates even cheered and clapped as each one of their peers would finish his piece.”
Marilyn Asher, Religious Coordinator Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility
The “Quilting Your Legacy” project at the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home has been the most unique and rewarding activity in my 17 years as Director of Activities. I have never seen Residents respond with such passion and commitment to this five session residency which has stimulated their artistic and creative side and also provided a sense of completion and discipline. This project gave our Residents a chance to create a legacy for their families to treasure.
